A large study by the Cochrane Library shows the benefits of East Asian Botanical medicine in the treatment of menstrual cramps.
This systematic review compiled data from 39 clinical trials including 3,475 patients, and found herbal treatments to be more effective than NSAIDs, heat, birth control pills, and even acupuncture.
Amongst the herbs included in the trials are Dang Gui, Chuan Xiong, Bai Shao, Chi Shao and Gan Cao.
